About Us
WhyHire.me is a post-secondary education program for developing a student's personal brand. The program includes a secure collaborative learning workspace, often referred to as a social network, and education resources including a 70-page eBook, online presentations, worksheets, assignments and a marking rubric. The learning resources all follow a methodology we call the Four D's of Personal branding.
The Four D's include:
Dig Deep - focus on career coaching elements including personal values, personality types, strengths, passions, achievements and weaknesses.
Declare Your Brand - dive into the world of branding and converting your personal assessment into the key messages of your personal brand
Display Yourself - start building the pieces of their personal brand with all the elements and tools that are available to us (text, photos, video, blogging, WordPress, Twitter, Delicious, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, Google)
Deploy Your Brand - launch yourself into the online world by making connections with industry and developing a proactive plan to continue to develop your personal brand
After completing the learning, the student can chose to publicly publish their WhyHire.me profile. Their profile will capture the richness of their post-secondary experience by incorporating photos, videos, blogs and many of the most popular social networking tools. Most importantly, these students will have documented their valuable school and work experiences and developed a personal brand that tells a focused story for employers to read.
WhyHire.me is has been adopted into curriculum at Algonquin College, Centennial College, Carleton University, Memorial University, and Ryerson University so far. The program is being used in a variety of ways including: 100% in class instructor lead dedicated class, a portion of the overall curriculum running from 75% to 25% in class, blended learning where the majority of the learning is self-paced outside of the classroom, and finally, one program is using a 100% computer based learning approach. The WhyHire.me program is designed to adapt to the needs of the institution and their learners.
